An ode to fine people with sense…Salut!

Of all the reasons I’ve heard in life why a woman did not end up with a particular man or vice versa….this has got to be the one that takes the cake. Wait for it…”I didn’t date you because you’re a fine boy/girl and you people break hearts”
What a laughable statement. Very funny something. O funny ku. Because what will it profit a man or woman, to run away from something pleasing to the eye (all in the name of being afraid of “nkan to da o si fenikan”) and end up with someone on the lower end of the spectrum in looks that also has an accompanying rotten attitude and character?

Brethren/Sisters. Being aesthetically appealing is not a sin fa. When you’re looking out for who to go into a relationship with, don’t end up with someone you don’t like because you think if they’re not appealing, nobody else will find them appealing. For everyone you think is not appealing, they have their own spec that finds them tantalizing. There is nothing as painful as ending up with that kind of person and you now also end up getting shabby treatment. You now see the person that you rejected because of his fine looks/her beauty treating their partner like the best thing since sliced bread. That thing can pain! All the way into the bone marrow. Because, it will be a clear case of “tiya nla ba gbeni lule, kekere na ma n tele” (Adding insult to injury). The thunder that will fire you if you try to break up the person’s relationship ehn? Saying things like “I was blind but now I see” leyin tiya ti je e dada….
Please remain blind and face your work o. Uche onise.

Which brings me to my next point. What is most important in life regardless of looks is having sense. Do they have a correct working No 6? Is their No 6 intact? I remember when I was dating my husband. One of my friends told me “ha…he’s fine o. Are you not worried?”. I told her, “First of all, emi gan fine geh. Secondly, the fineness is an extra cherry on top of the sense”. He has sense so he understands that being ‘hanz’ is not a prerequisite for misbehaving. Dear brother and sister in the Lord….are you rejecting people because of their ‘fineness’ and you now end up with the spawn of the devil because you think people that are fine don’t have sense?. I’m so sorry for you.

People that are good looking already have a plus for them. Why, if you may ask? Because, everyone likes to see eye candy. Now imagine being fine and having sense? Kai! What a perfect combination. Doors will open for you because already people want to listen to you. Not that you wear it on your face like a banner. But you know that way of looking effortlessly chic and sophistique or handsome without trying too much? Like some of those days when I know I’m looking ‘takeaway’. Ti mo n look like cream caramel and malteasers ice cream all combined together? Yeah…but in an effortless way. You now tell me pe..mo look good?😁 Of course I know. Can’t you see the extra swag in my step?
That’s what I’m talking about. As a rule…when I was in Lagos then and I’m going to see my private dermatology patients, I always look the part. Trust my Lagos people who can be snotty with sizing you up. Emi gan wa nle fun yin. I remember one of my consultations. My patient told me “You look like a dermatologist”. Yes ke. That’s what I’m talking about.

Why do you think actresses like Genevieve, Kate, Rita, Nse will never go out of style? Why do you think we all love the baba of them all RMD? Why do you think people fawn over the newer actresses like Adesua, Bimbo, Linda, Osas? Why do we all love Ayoola, Daniel Etim-Effiong and some other contemporary actors? They are aesthetically appealing, they know it, use it well to their advantage but they also have a working No 6 aka sense. Very important.

Why do you think some people who are not particularly beauty queens or Mr. Macho, have that aura? It is in the carriage. Too much and you end up looking like you’re trying too hard. Too little and you end up looking shabby. You need just the right amount.

There is no combination as lethal as people that are good looking (that don’t make their lives all about the looks) and also have sense. Kai! Doors and windows will open for you….trust me.

Although, I’m one of those people that see beauty in everyone. Except your attitude is really rotten. Then all I get is the stench of your character, no matter how beautiful you look. Everyone has beauty in them….it is all about carriage and confidence.

As for you that is rejecting a potential person that has sense, kind, and is also good looking….bring your ears let me tell you something. Beasts don’t turn into prince charming anymore. Don’t end up with two different suffer head.
On the flip side, nothing is more annoying than an attractive container with empty / rubbish contents. Like putting a pack of white maltesers on the table with you salivating and finding semo in the pack. Arrrgggghhhh. Eeeeeewww, disgusting as my little boy says.

In life, the most important thing to have is sense. Even if your beauty shines like a diamond and you don’t have sense, that beauty fades into oblivion.

A final caveat. If you are not a self assured or confident person, you might eventually give the fine specimen of human being with sense that you end up with grief. So maybe you should leave them alone so they’ll not spend all their lives trying to shalaye.
