I swear I need to start making plenty money. My sister gave me one jab yesterday that had me thinking about my doctor life and bank account. I usually buy all my things in the market (that’s after making my monthly list so that I don’t leave anything out). I forgot to buy some things and went to the local grocery store close to the house.
First stop was the aisle with detergents. I was like ‘ole lawon people yii sha. 1400 tanyanyan’(these people are trying to rip me off..a whole 1400naira! Please ask me how much I buy it in the market…. 1100naira. Na ‘small small’ dey become big. Next was the aisle for margarine; that one was just 100naira more but of course I still muttered some words under my breath. The next was liquid hand wash….haha kilode now? 150naira more than the usual price. I made a mental note of not forgetting anything again when I go to the market.
The last was my vermicelli noodles. I must confess that I think my sister couldn’t take all my ejo wewe (small talk) anymore. When I saw 1400 naira for something I buy at 900 naira normally, I said a quick ahusubillah and dropped it like a sack of hot potatoes. This was the point where my sister made a comment that put me in ‘sifia pains’(severe pains). She was like Olohun se owo fun egbon mi so that awon na o ni ma check price nkan kakiri ti won ba ti wo supermarket mo o, amin (God please give my sister loads of money plenty of money so we won’t have to be checking prices of products all over the place before buying when we’re in the supermarket). My people, at this point I had to fitijukarun (cover my shame) to pick the noodles..lol
Thinking about this though, I know that there are some people that waltz into the grocery stores without even looking at the prices. Maybe someday, I’ll get there too. For now, let me respect my poor doctor salary and go for shopping in the market.
This my sister sha. O get me baebaje…lol. Do I have people like me that check the prices or do you waltz in and just fill your shopping cart without glancing at the price tag?
I don’t just check the prices of products o, I go as far as comparing prices among 3 supermarkets and buy each product from the cheapest supermarket. I also respect my poor doctor salary…lol
This is a good write up. Thanks for sharing Doc.
We have to respect our pockets o! That’s why I buy in bulk too. Thanks a lot for stopping by!

O necesstri
I have been browsing online more than three hours nowadays,
yet I never discovered any interesting article like yours.
It is pretty price enough for me. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you probably did,
the internet might be a lot more helpful than ever before.
Your comment means so much! Thank you so much! I am glad I am providing value!
