Kindness. My relationship currency

There’s a prayer I say every single day of my life.
“Ya Allah, if you give me money, do not put arrogance in my heart; if you give me power, do not take away my humanity..
Because I know that money will come. Legitimately. As long as you’re consistent, dedicated and you provide value, it will come (if death/ill-health doesn’t happen).

My relationship language with people is kindness and humanity. That is one thing you’ll find in common with all my mentors and friends.

No matter how rich or popular a person is, I cannot find them attractive if they disrespect or are unkind to others simply because of their social status. Everyone deserves respect as long as they’re working legitimately for a living. If I see you rude to a security or cleaner simply because you are ‘the boss’ (and not that they did anything wrong), I automatically switch off and find you repulsive. When I say respect, I don’t mean just by saying chief or sir/ma/aunty or uncle. Aimoye sir/ma/chief that people are still disrespecting themselves. I find it easy to call anyone sir/ma. It is a cultural part of our environment. “When in Rome, behave like the Romans”. I see people complain about chief here and I wonder if chief = respect. Aimoye chief that you’re abusing 🤷‍♀️

I have a mentor who isn’t a medical doctor but is a popular public figure. He has been supportive of my career in every way. He is like a father to me now. I love him because of how much he respects me and the kindness he shows. I have never seen him scream at domestic workers before. I went for his wife’s birthday and he came to usher me and my husband in like we were celebrities while calling me the nickname he gave me “Professor”. He made sure we sat at his table where former governors and executives were seated.

I have a father right here on Twitter with me. He would probably build me a hospital if I want one today..(just joking). I won’t tag him so you don’t snatch my daddy😁. I don’t take him for granted. All the people I respect and consider fathers, mothers and mentors….I love them because they respect others and are kind hearted.

The doctors that work with me will be quick to tell you that I joke a lot but it doesn’t mean that I won’t give you a query when you’re exhibiting truancy. Without shouting or calling you names. You will receive your query/punishment respectfully 😁. “The gentility and stealth of a tiger is not borne out of cowardice”.

Everyone deserves respect and kindness (not the people committing inhumanity and injustice) and we were all born physiologically the same way. It is only circumstances that differ. Be kind.
