Have an attitude of gratitude

There are two groups of people that would always receive more. People that show genuine gratitude and those that give generously. The universe has a way of giving back to these two groups of people. I belong to the two groups. Now imagine how people just give me stuff😁
If you see me carrying any expensive handbag, gadget or any other pricey thing…be certain that I didn’t use my money to buy it😁.

Sadly, the culture of gratitude especially to people on a lower cadre than us is fast becoming eroded. I went to chicken republic Bodija recently and my order was delayed and canceled despite that I had called prior to coming. I was a tad irritated and the manager kept apologizing profusely for this. He made sure he did some damage control and even ensured that he called me to come (as I had to leave) when it was ready. When I came to pick up the order, I thanked him profusely for going the extra mile. The next time I came, I thanked the lady that was attending to me when she brought my order. I didn’t know the manager still remembered me. He said, “good afternoon ma’am, I remember you because you always thank us heartily when you come here. People don’t consider thank you important anymore.”

One of my mentors in Brazil wrote this about me when she reviewed my soon to be released book Medi-thrive – “The first time I really thought about and appreciated the concept of mentoring was when Shakirat came to Brazil for a mentoring program in surgical dermatology. Her spontaneous way of thanking me so much for everything I taught her no matter how small it seemed made me feel so proud to be a mentor. I did not realize that I have always been a mentor for those around me and that I am also the result of all my preceding mentors till Shaki (as I fondly call her) showed me.

That said, I’m glad to realize that myself and all of Shaki’s other mentors will be eternized through her mentorship to others who will come after her. Shaki’s immense heart, perception of the world and tremendous ability to translate feelings into words will be fruitful for the readers. May you always use this gift to mentor others through the best path in life.”

Do you have a heart of gratitude? Or are you one of those entitled ones that think everyone owes them something? Newsflash – The world doesn’t revolve around you.
Give as much as you can and it doesn’t have to be monetary. A kind word, a smile, a hug to someone that needs it.

Then have a heart of gratitude.

Òkè l’owó afúnni ngbé. The hands of the giver are ALWAYS on top. Never below. For every single time I have given, it returns back to me in double. For every act of kindness that I do, I get double in return. Truly, “givers never lack.”
And it is not just monetary…it is in all the little things.
